Contact Lenses at altitude: Wearing soft style contact lenses can reduce the amount of oxygen available to the cornea and if you are wearing long term hard contacts this dramatically increase your risk of corneal ulcers.

      ·           If you are hiking above 8,000ft avoid wearing multiuse lenses for more than 7 days in a row

      ·          Contact lens solutions can freeze overnight: (keep lens solution close to your body inside your sleeping bag)

      ·          Bring Sunglasses and backup glasses

Having trouble sleeping at altitude is an extremely common condition, many people wake up gasping for oxygen and have repetitive headaches. It is extremely important that you do not take sleeping medication as this increases the risk of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness).
